Nia (Fasha Sandha) is a very cute tomboy girl who was recently dumped by her boyfriend. Since then, she has kept hatred towards men. She lets out her anger on Kogi (Pierre Andre), an honest and kind guy who becomes an easy target for Nia to bully. They first met when Nia accidentally entered Kogi's house and since then many coincidental meetings happen between them. No matter how many times Kogi is bullied by Nia, he puts on a strong front and is a gentleman most of the time until they eventually fall for each other, but this was cut short when Adrian (Fahrin Ahmad), Nia's ex-lover, enters her life again. Nia is still head over heels in love with Adrian but her love for him isn't like it was before. One day, Nia decides to fly off to Tokyo with her boyfriend for a year. When she returns home, her feelings towards Kogi becomes so overwhelming that she searches for him but failed. When she finally finds him again a shocking surprise awaits her.

It all begins with Nia (Fasha Sandha) mistakenly knocking on Kogi's (Pierre Andre) door looking for her fiance. Nia is left by her boyfriend on her wedding day and Kogi finds himself being used as a shoulder for Nia to cry on. However, Nia is a little rough around the edges and Kogi ends up getting bullied.

When she finally passes out due to exhaustion, Kogi seizes the opportunity to leave his own apartment, giving Nia time to exit. The plan works and when Kogi returns Nia is gone. Good riddance, Kogi thinks, and marks his calendar. The 9th of September is coming and his planned holiday draws near.

Trying to document the holiday, Kogi starts shooting a video of everything he sees. Unfortunately, one of the first things he sees is Nia who is also on holiday at the same resort. For Kogi, the dream holiday is slowly turning into a disaster.

The two later get stranded on an island and Nia makes sure Kogi's life is hell on the island as they wait to be rescued. However, we slowly see the chemistry between the two as Kogi, despite being bullied, always manages to provide for Nia.

Even when they leave the island, Nia is unable to change her rough and physical ways but Kogi accommodates and this becomes the basis of their relationship. When Nia's old flame shows up one day, the couple's feelings are put to the test.

I have seen some of the latest releases from Metrowealth Productions and this is one of their more entertaining releases so far. While "Jangan Pandang Belakang" is currently making its way across South East Asia, it is reassuring to know that this romantic comedy has the chance to follow suit.

Pierre Andre gets behind the camera (as director) for the first time on "9 September" and there is definitely some talent ready to blossom. While some of the gags are funny, with a little more planning and proper attention to detail, it has the potential to be a huge laugh fest. The film keeps a fine balance between romance and comedy and is very entertaining.

Both the leads do a good job, although Fasha Sandha tends to overdo her lines, and Pierre Andre seems to play down his acting. There is chemistry between the two but with a little more coaching, the two stars can definitely be more convincing.

"9 September" is a pleasant surprise and is definitely worth a watch.
