A darkly handsome, hirsute lead with a dimpled chin and a gravelly voice, Alec Baldwin has developed a relaxed impudence which has lent itself equally well to earnest heroes and sexually threatening rogues. His introduction to the business came as Billy Aldrich on the NBC daytime serial "The Doctors" (1980-82), but he first attracted serious attention as a charismatic TV preacher Joshua Rush in the CBS serial "Knots Landing" (1984-85).
