"Cinta" is a film of five modern-day love stories with the metropolitan skyline of Kuala Lumpur as the backdrop. While each story is independent, the characters are connected to each other by circumstance, coincidence or location.
With love as its universal theme, the movie takes us through the lives of five couples who search, find and lost their love in the beautiful city. Through them, we experience five different facets of love.

Cinta (Love)... This film is just like Love Actually... But this is Malay version... Story about Auntie Rubiah (Fatimah Abu Bakar) who is kind-hearted to take care Cikgu Elyas (Dato Rahim Razali), an ex teacher who suffers from Alzheimer that lives with his son/grandson (i'm confused). Azlan (Eizlan Yusof), an architect who tries a lot to tackle Azura (Fasha Sandha), a bookstore assistant. Dyan (Nanu Baharuddin) who loves her brother, Dhani (Que Haidar) who becomes a street illustrator but could not show what really love means. Harris (Rashidi Ishak) an architect who tries to accept that her wife, Airin (Rita Rudaini) have left her for other guy and brought together their daughter, Lis (Ezrynne). Taufik (Pierre Andre) who helps Arianna (Sharifah Amani) a bubbly girl who looking for a guy named Khalif (Gambit) that responsible to her pregnancy, and Taufik falls in love with her. I really like the storyline. The quote like "sehari dengan orang yang kita sayang, walau macam mana susah adalah lebih bermakna daripada seumur hidup dengan orang yang kita tak sayang" (one whole day with the one that we love, even how hard is it, it is more meaningful from one whole life with someone that we doesn't love), and "Kadang-kadang, orang yang paling kita sayang, adalah orang yang paling susah untuk disayangi" (sometimes, someone that we love the most, is the hardest one to be loved)... one of the scene in hospital, it included three scene. Dyan went to hospital when she heard Dhani is sent to hospital, Arianna is in the ward and Cikgu Elyas that brought by Autie Rubiah that found him scared in town. Kabir also takes many great special appearance actors/resses like Baizura Kahar, the girl that Dhani always stare. Tony Eusof as the doctor and Ngasrizal Ngasri as Cikgu Elyas's son/grandson. And in the last scene Vanida Imran who takes the roll of Harris's new wife (actually she is Rashidi Ishak's real wife)... The soundtracks like Cinta (Misha Omar ft Jaclyn Victor), Perpisahan (Anuar Zain), Sewaktu Dulu (Flop Poppy), Dekat Tapi Jauh (V.E), Without You (Jaclyn Victor ft Same Same) is great, suits with the scene...

What I loved most: that everyday scenes in KL
I never appreciate the looks of KL and all its attributes from modern buildings, squarter areas, to its people ranging from rich to poor, at least not until I watched (and re-watched--few times!). It's certainly an excellent effort on putting all these as a setting for the movie. The 5 couples--are ordinary,everyday looks of people we might meet,yet with most extraordinary lifestories! I never appreciate the looks of KL and all its attributes from modern buildings, squarter areas, to its people ranging from rich to poor, at least not until I watched (and re-watched--few times!). It's certainly an excellent effort on putting all these as a setting for the movie. The 5 couples--are ordinary,everyday looks of people we might meet,yet with most extraordinary lifestories! I must say that I favored more of Elyas-Rubiah and Harris-Airin, although the other 3 couples Azlan-Azura, Taufiq-Ariana and Dani-Dian are all almost as excellent. Elyas-Rubiah potrays a love that endure all pain and joy in a go, and I love the most their scripts because they say things that we took for granted everyday these days. If you happened to take what they said for granted the first few times you watched the movie, have a go again and take heed on what Elyas, Rubiah said to each other. Harris-Airin, a heart wrenching and tearful couple! Especially scenes at the gate of Azura's new house with their daughter Alisa. My my..tissue please! Overall, the casts are all outstanding, the story are simple but matured, scenes are A-rated (although must say that I disgust the filthiness of some part of KL in the story). Some improvements might do, but I'm a newbies that I don't know which parts do have room for improvement. I don't go watch our local films, so I'm at the state of disaster if I were to say it's the best overall. Simple mind of mine say this one is A STORY ABOUT LOVE, and it really is CINTA!

Boasting an all-star cast with a mix of up-and rising leads (Sharifah Amani and Fasha Sandha), highly-rated actors and actresses (Eizlan Yusoff and Rashidi Ishak) as well as veteran stars (Dato' Rahim Razali and Fatimah Abu Bakar), "Cinta" is one movie not to be missed - even if it is just to catch a glimpse of one of those stars in action. However, the movie not only has a multi-talented cast but it's also executed in a natural style with beautiful images and settings to enhance the film.
"Cinta" is about five modern-day love stories set in the busy city of Kuala Lumpur and its everyday people. While each story is independent, the characters are connected to one another, either by circumstances and coincidence. Who knows, one of those five stories could be related to yours.
The stars in the movie gave their best performance, with the veterans being the most memorable. Dato' Rahim Razali plays Elyas, an ex-school teacher who suffers from Alzheimer's and would forget what happens at the end of each day ("50 First Dates", anyone?) Not only was his acting convincing but moviegoers would actually feel pity and sympathy for him as they would for others they know who suffer from the same disease. Opposite him, Fatimah Abu Bakar (whose daughter, Sharifah Amani also acted in the movie) was equally impressive, displaying emotions that are genuine as she plays the kind-hearted storekeeper who decides to take care of Elyas under his condition.
Director Kabir Bhatia once again proved why he is one of the most sought after directors with "Cinta". Despite being his first major directional debut, Kabir's unique directional style was clearly shown with the storyline being simple and the actors being as natural as possible. Thumbs up to Alternate Studio as well for coming up with a huge improvement from their first movie, "Salon".
Forget about the fancy special effects and exaggerated storylines and go for something simple and romantic. Being a local film (and a good one too I might add), watch "Cinta" and see for yourself how far the local movie industry has gone since its early days. If every movie that comes out of our country has as much quality as this one, it won't be long before Malaysia would be recognised as one of the leading filmmakers in Asia.
