What I loved most: that everyday scenes in KL
I never appreciate the looks of KL and all its attributes from modern buildings, squarter areas, to its people ranging from rich to poor, at least not until I watched (and re-watched--few times!). It's certainly an excellent effort on putting all these as a setting for the movie. The 5 couples--are ordinary, everyday looks of people we might meet, yet with most extraordinary lifestories! I must say that I favored more of Elyas-Rubiah and Harris-Airin, although the other 3 couples Azlan-Azura, Taufiq-Ariana and Dani-Dian are all almost as excellent. Elyas-Rubiah potrays a love that endure all pain and joy in a go, and I love the most their scripts because they say things that we took for granted everyday these days. If you happened to take what they said for granted the first few times you watched the movie, have a go again and take heed on what Elyas, Rubiah said to each other. Harris-Airin, a heart wrenching and tearful couple! Especially scenes at the gate of Azura's new house with their daughter Alisa. My my..tissue please! Overall, the casts are all outstanding, the story are simple but matured, scenes are A-rated (although must say that I disgust the filthiness of some part of KL in the story). Some improvements might do, but I'm a newbies that I don't know which parts do have room for improvement. I don't go watch our local films, so I'm at the state of disaster if I were to say it's the best overall. Simple mind of mine say this one is A STORY ABOUT LOVE, and it really is CINTA!

What I loved most: the story itself (5 in 1 love stories)
it's been years ever since i've watch a romance malay movie which i find so worth it to be watched. this movie.. has something which no other romance malay movies had. no other romance malay movies has 5 love stories in 1 movie, well directed & smooth flow of storyline. a new, fresh idea. the flow of the story is well arranged, slow & steady.. slow not as in lembab.. but relaxing. the movie is very touching, especially if u watch it for the 1st time. and i don't regret buying the vcd. and i won't get bored watching it over and over again. 'cause it is worth it buying & watching. i shall recommend those who haven't watch this movie to watch it. for those of u malay movies lover, go catch 'cinta'. and for those who dislike watching malay movies, you might wanna try this out.. it might be able to change your midset about malay movies. i'll bet you won't regret it. *2 thumbs up*

What I loved most: The flow of the story
What I really hated: The dialouge
To a certain extent, Cinta really prove that Malaysian can make a good movie. I am a typical guy who said that malay movie lack quality, boring, dull, repeatative and i never expect too much from movie that was made in this country that have been polluted by piracy for so long but for me, Cinta is a little bit different. I can feel that the director trying so hard to break free from the barrier that has been ages stopping the Malay movies to be very succesfull. What is the barrier you ask me? Money. Don't misunderstood me. I don't mean that the lack of budget that makes local movies bad (ok, I do mean it but it is not the real problem) but when the movie producer start to think to make profit out of the movie, it is a problem. When they (the producer) do think like that, it seriously affect the movies itself. How? Simple, try search on the net what kind of movie that earn a lot of profit (in Malaysia of course) in the last 5 years, and you can see that most of the title have the same familiar theme and the same familiar environment and cater for the range of viewer that watch movies for leisure, that watch movies to search for something that they didn't get the chance to experience in their daily live, the so called "love" that have the happy ever after ending. So there are always one guy meet one girl in one place where the guy try to hit on the girl, and they become the love couple and the live happily ever aft... not yet, the girl find out something, then there is this conflict hence making the girl "balik kampung", then the guy run after the girl and then propose in the train and they live happily ever after. (now this sound familiar). I love hollywood movies - because they let me think, and korean movies - because they make me realize that there are other kind of love story. If i am to compare CINTA with My Sassy Girl (2001) from Korea, I can surely point of serious defect in CINTA that make it look ridicoulous while both trying to tell the same story about love (loves for CINTA) yet My Sassy Girl is 5 years older. There are lot more to discuss about CINTA but I dont have much time to write because i am a student in an IPTA and i dont have much leisure time, but if anybody feel like giving their opinion to me, feel free to mail me.

It has the Love Actually concept but with malaysian flavour. I enjoyed the movie so much I watched it twice! The script was really good. I really like the quotes on love... like "sehari dengan orang yang kita sayang, walau macam mana susah adalah lebih bermakna daripada seumur hidup dengan orang yang kita tak sayang" (or something to that effect lah). To the girls, if you're going to watch the movie, please bring a packet of tissue with you... hehe...
