In a tight-knit community, local professor Harry Stevenson witnesses love and attraction whipping up mischief among residents. From the unlucky in love, die-hard romantic coffee shop owner Bradley who has a habit of looking for love in all the wrong places, including his current wife Kathryn; to the edgy real estate agent Diana, who is caught up in an affair with a married man; to the young newcomer Chloe who defies fate in romancing the troubled Oscar; to Harry himself, whose adoring wife is looking to break through his wall of grief after the loss of a beloved - they make a story in which all is bent, broken, befuddled and ultimately redeemed by love's spell.

With bated breath I watched and it all felt too superficial. I would not consider this movie as a dreadful movie. It does raises some questions on the ethnicity, loyalty in love and life, but it all felt too contrived. Just like another movie that was screened together - PS I Love You -, both movies try too much to capture the audience. At some point, you cant help but wonder, are they the only people living in America? And once it reaches it climax, you wonder, why do i care? I say go watch Away From Her, and you'll understand the meaning of gripping, intrigued and thought provoking. Contrived and blatantly superficial but it was lucky that the movie was saved by an amazing cast. Not sure bout Morgan Freeman though. He always seem to be the wise ones in movie.
