In "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" Dwayne Johnson stars as Hank Parsons, Sean Anderson's (Josh Hutcherson) stepfather. Sean forces Hank to bring him on a trip to a mythical and monstrous island to find his missing grandfather played by Michael Caine. Vanessa Anne Hudgens also stars in this movie as Kailani, a tour guide and Hutcherson's love interest. The script is loosely based on Jules Verne's "The Mysterious Island" novel.

Great Idea but Simple Storyline
What I loved most: The unique island; giant animals turn midgets and vice versa
What I really hated: Too simple storyline
I admire the island due to its isolation, giant insects that you can ride on a bee but the story is in the way too simple... they should leave the island too soon without encountering anything hideous through the adventure. I should say the adventure is not fun enough. They have just landed on the island and they must return by 3 days??? Relax...let us enjoy the serenity and discover more new things found on the island.

beautiful graphics
What I loved most: the graphics were good, reminds me of Avatar
What I really hated: the kid sean is a real brat in the movie!
well, the story starts off real quick, immediately mentioning the mysterious island and cracking that code in the first ten minutes of the film. there were some exciting moments such as the storm and all, and surviving that lizard attack, but the show is over real quick. could have done better by including more action scenes, since they are on an unknown environment, but it is what it is.

this is not real eough i thing i should be in chinese it is so real thta i want to srceam and laugh F3 then hor the liazrd is so big that it is not scary it should be small then when we make them angry they will became huge and at lest eat one people la no blood ... and the island so small the time so less next vtime hor i don want watch liao ..............

A Good CNY movie for this 2012 start
What I loved most: How they manage to create such real things in life!
What I really hated: Some parts of the CQ very cartoon, not real enough
Watched this at GV Plaza and was surprised that the whole cinema filled with audience, 95% full! Quite disappointed with the air-con in the cinema, more heat than cool air but luckily the movie managed to show some cool effects like under the sea etc. Worth your money to watch this show especially with kids. I think this movie will be better than 'Everything Got' (Translate in hokkien).

It appears that Sean broke into a satellite facility in order to receive a series of codes which Sean believes are sent by his grandfather, portrayed by two-time Academy Award winner, Michael Caine. With the help of his stepdad, Sean set out to the deciphered location of his grandfather - The Mysterious Island. There they meet a dubious tour guide, Gapato, played brilliantly by Luis Guzman and his beautiful daughter, Kailani (Vanessa Hudgens). Sean is instantly attracted to Kailani, and eventually he receives advice from Dwayne Johnson's character in a hilarious scene where we are shown Dwayne's signature chest-popping moves.
After their helicopter is brought down by a thunder storm, the group realize that they have found the island that they have been searching for. The movie progresses much like a National Geographic episode with eye-opening scenes of nature and the various dangers in the mysterious island such as walking through a field of large eggs and encountering an enormous killer lizard before being rescued by Sean's grandfather. Then, it becomes a race against time as the group tries to get off the island before it sinks by finding Captain Nemo's infamous submarine. As you can see, the movie makes a lot of references to classic novels, so fans of literature are likely to enjoy this movie more.
The movie is not all action and adventure, with character development scenes such as how Sean learnt about Hank's childhood and the kind of great man that he is. We even get to see a big man like Dwayne playing on a small banjo while singing Frank Sinatra's 'What a Wonderful World'. The chemistry between characters are unexpectedly good, such as the banter between Josh and Vanessa which obviously ended with a kiss. Personally, the most entertaining character in this film is definitely Luis Guzman, who even went as far as to kiss the back of Dwayne's bald head, and getting away with it. Added with the presence of Vanessa Hudgens as one of the cast, this movie is definitely one that left me wanting more at the end.
