"Palaivana Cholai" surrounds its story among five close friends Prabhu, Ramana, Yuvan, Ilavarasu and Aathi. Ramana (Sanjeev), a poor man whose sister Gayathri is ready for marriage. He arranges his sister's marriage with someone and invites his friends and elations. Priya, Prabhu's lover, helps Ramana by giving her mother's wedding chain. Does Prabhu separate from Ramana? Does Priya fall in love with Ramana? Forms the rest of the story.
