Marcus Wright Is My Hero!

What I loved most: The characters, the visuals

What I really hated: Someone had to die in the end...

This is a FUN movie, because the visuals is just unbelievably good! At one point, it shows the character's view and that's genius to me! It can make the audiences "enter the movie", if you get what I'm saying. Even though John Connor (Christian Bale) is the lead character, somehow Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) outshines him like The Joker outshines Bruce Wayne in "The Dark Knight". In other words, the director, MCG is a genius and this movie is worth watching!

Terminator Salvation

What I loved most: Sam Worthington Character

What I really hated: Lack of T600 terminators and brutal battlescenes

First Christian Bale(John Conner)'s acting was quite good but I prefer his performance as Bruce Wayne aka Batman. Anton Yelchin's(Kyle Reese) really looked like Micheal Biehn's version(Kyle Reese in Terminator 1). I really was not impressed the way McG made the battle scenes. I think the battle scenes should have been more simpler, brutal and realistic. For examples just look at movies like "Saving Private Ryan" and "Black Hawk Down". The creation of big terminator machines(motorcycles, giant harvesters, airplanes, hydrobots) were excessive and unnecessary. So far I could only see few T600s(old version of humanoid terminators), one complete T800(Arnold You-Know-Who) and Sam Worthington's terminator(the one with brains and a heart). These machines also would not hesitate to kill their targets. For example I could see that the termainators hesitated to kill Kyle and John. These terminators will not not wait to either crush their opponents with their bare metallic hands instead of slamming them around. And these terminators could not even fire their guns properly. These metal guys are programmed by Skynet to kill or be killed immediately. The humans portrayed in this movie did not look war victims. Just look at all those refugees in those real war torn countries. Look at how they eat, behave and live. The plot was not really impressive. Luckily I personally watched T1, T2 and T3 movies just to catch up with the storylines.I think the producers should hire Steven Spielberg, James Cameron(best choice but not available) or even Ridley Scott. Maybe my expectation was too high or McG was not a good choice.

A very different Terminator out of the four

What I loved most: Illustrate the future world of Terminator, mysterious Marcus

What I really hated: Story could be better

For those Arnold's fans, this is not the movie for you. Frankly, I don't get the feeling of T1, T2 with this latest sequel, it is a totally new experience. But the experience here is positive for me. The plot is set in the chaotic future, and the scene is very realistic. The visual effect, sound effect all come in the right time with no overly use. The story too, try to explain more with story left out by previous movie, but for sure there is still many question unanswered. The main focus here is not the main character John Connor, but the mysterious Marcus Wright. He is more interesting than John Connor. The opening scene already give audience a hint that Marcus is also an important role in this movie. If you follow the story carefully from the beginning, there is no much confusion here, I personally feel the story is quite acceptable. This is a movie with intense drama. I can really said it make a balance between story and CG effect, much like "The Dark Knight". Just ignore the critic, go watch it before too late, it is one of the well made movie of this year.

A surprisingly enjoyable action movie!

What I loved most: Great cast especially Sam Worthington

What I really hated: Under-developed John Connor's character

There is only 1...no, 2 words to describe Terminator Salvation. Exciting and strangely moving...oops! That's 4 words. And despite the generally negative reviews from critics (in my opinion, not fans and totally ignorant creatures!), the movie was very engaging right from the moment go, filled with equally engaging characters especially, Sam Worthington's Marcus Wright (very hunkilicious in a glowery way...yes, I could hear the women swooning in the cinema!) who kinda upstage Christian Bale's John Connor in terms of character development! Sam's character, at once intense and vulnerable is the emotional core of the movie and it is this little fact that set the movie apart from all the mindless action movies this summer. A great action movie which pays homage to its unparallel predecessor, I can't think of a better way to end a long day at work. Go see it.
