The movie tells the tale of the "feared" bearded Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant), a boundless enthusiastic, somewhat less-that-successful, terror of the High Seas. Him and his rag-tag crew by his side, and all odds against him, the Captain has but one goal in his life; to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much anticipated and highly coveted, Pirate of the Year Award. The quest for the award takes our heroes from the beautiful shores of Blood Island to the foggy and gloomy streets of Victorian London. Along the way, the three rivals have to learn to work together as they team up with a haplessly smitten scientist to take on the diabolical queen who wants to destroy the three.
