What I really hated: The flat ending

Everytime i go to see a Afdlin Shauki movie,I have high expectations. This is the guy who did the classic "Buli", made movie with themes from sumo wrestling to Window cleaning.So deep inside me A small voice that comes from my inner pessimism says to me whether this will be the time Afdlin Shauki finally dissapoints. im glad to say that the small voice is silenced once again.. Los & Foun is basically a 'who-dun-it' light hearted comedy where the lead duo of los & found look for a missing watch that costs millions of ringgit. I wont more into the storyline. Thats what the Synopsis is for. The movie really picks up when they meet 2 insurance agents. After a slightly slow start, this is when the laughs come thick and fast. From pretending to be from the ministry of health to interviewing a GRO/Magician, the dynamic duo of Los & found meet many over-the-top characters in search of who stole the watch. IMO this movie gets 5 stars for sheer creativity. No malaysian comedy even comes close to Afdlin's gems. Sometimes i feel like picking afdlin's brains and figuring out where he gets his ideas. The characters in the movie are all crazy in their own way,each providing a different kind of humour. Most of them are high strung and colorful, but special praise goes to the actor who plays david, the American Insurance investigator. His deadpan humor ala Charlie Sheen simply stole the show for me.The Other characters were outrageously over the top but being a comedy, I didnt mind it although the GRO/Magician was slightly overdone.But the Brokeback mountain scene was pure Gold. Again i cant heap enough praise on A.Shauki. His comedic timing and humour are on a totally different level to the other comedies out there. And there lies the drawback. The only reason why hes not more popular than he already is could be just that. You have to be on his comedic wavelength and dare i say it some people just dont get it. Afdlins comedy is beyond the slapstick 'senario' humour. Its more intellectual and its not something that any half-wit understands. Don't get me wrong. Malay slapstick has its moments and there are some gems out there (Diva popular). But i prefer my comedy to be a bit more than your typical 'Nana Tanjung'.Barely half an hour in the movie, i saw 2 malay ladies (i know becoz of the tudong) get up,left the cinema and never came back.IMO not everyone will 'get' this movie. But if you loved Afdlin's previos movies and appreciate creativity, then watch 'Los & Found'. The King of Malaysian Comedy has yet again released another comedic masterpiece..

I dont get why people dislike this movie. Ok fine since the movie is suppose to be footage shot on a vid cam,the movements were shaky and i can understand why some people got sick watching it. Personally I found it realistic and a great watch. I havent watched the original, i havent even watched cloverfield(horrors,ill get down to that tonight on dvd). the closest comparision i can come to is Blair witch and that is only because their both supposed to be lost footage found. Apart from that,there is nothing similiar. Whilst BW was slow,Quarantine is more like BW on steroids. I am not a horror fan but this movie is awesome. Being more a fan of realistic movies that can believably suck you in, the acting in this movie is top notch especially the lead character. the range of emotions she displays in the movie, from happy-carefree to a panicked weeping mess due to downright despair is stunning. The screaming and crying and panic around the house makes you almost makes you believe that what you are watching has actually happened. Now someone wrote that the lead character was annoying and that the people screaming in the house were worse than the zombies. Well the lead was a reporter who was making a documentary on firemen. Shes supposed to talk a lot. its her job. And the people screaming and panicking? Well imagine yourself trapped in a house while people around you are starting to become walking corpses. I doubt you will remain a pagon of serenity. Some people dislike the ending but i personally found that adds to the realism. Again just a matter of personal opinion. Overall i think this movie was great and even if you'r not a huge fan of the horror genre or zombie movies,you shold at least have a look.You might be pleasantly surprised.

First off i'm glad that i wasnt the only one pleasantly surprised with the storyline...i read somewhere that the storyline for this movie was boring and predictable. Nothing is further than the truth. Although the storyline of a dog who realises that he doesnt have superpowers whilst trying to find his owner is akin to Toy story(Buzz lightyear), there is more than enough difference to call this movie a original. The characters arer only loveable, even for disney standards. And i absolutely love Rhino, the obsessed hamster. I did not find him the least bit annoying and loved his character to bits. As a disney movie, the ending was somewhat predictable (dog saves owner from imminent death). Nonetheless the less of the storyline is original and the journey that Bolt takes whist meeting some merry characters has me wondering why the best movie iv seen this year is that of an animated dog..

I am not an old school bond fan. Iv never followed roger moore,sean connery,not even pierce brosnan's james bond(apart from goldensye and the world is not enough). In all honesty i find bond to be overrated and unrealistic and wasnt planning on catching this one until i saw casino royale playing on Hbo. What a movie. First off the actor. Daniel Craig is a good actor and he makes Bond believable with his menace and those piercing blue eyes. Now i know bond purists have been complaining about Bond not supposed to be having blue eyes, his now lack of sophistication yadda yadda yadda. IMO the only diff is now Bond is actually capable of kicking some ass and not some pretty boy .prancing around with the ladies.. So he doesnt have much gadgets...big deal. Now he beats his enemies with his bare hands. Awesome. Anyway on to the movie... The main problem is that the movie seems overstuffed with action. Whereas Casino Royale was realistic and 'secret-agent esque',QOS was more akin to rambo., which basically made Bond unrealitic again. And that lies the core of the movie, which is the major problem. In terms of acting, the movie was good. Script I had no problems with. Just the never ending action, which is was ridiculous and bordered on stupidity(even for a bond film). Now i know a lot of bond purists will not agree with a lot of what i say in this review...As i mentioned i am not a bond fan in a classic sense. I dont give a crap if bond was spposed to be an ex-navy agent so he has to be suave and sophisticated,or that hes spposed to have gadgets coming out of his bum hole. But as a movie buff, i like my movies to be realistic enough so i can get lost in it and QOS is not. Overall great acting,interesting characters, just too much action scenes for my liking.

Ok where to start... first off the movie was awful. Its a directorial debut? Fine but that doesn't excuse this load of rubbish. The start had me cringing in my seat and the end (disinilah bermula cintaku?!?) is something not even a pre-teen fantasizing about love would think of. .Everything about this movie is plain wrong..Syarifah Armani, a bloody brilliant actress(both sepet movies) was given a character who if i say overreacts would be an understatement,Pierre Andre's character suddenly has a disease(wot a surprise) which is an obvious effort to get in the sobs, dont get me started on the chessy vioilin playing and i think Fazura's makeup and saloon hair-do at the hospital was mentioned before.. Look i like romantic comedies but this is inexcusable.Everything was wrong People are forking out money to watch this? And how much did the actors get paid to do this movie?!? Bottom line is moviegoers deserve better...Hell the actors in this movie deserve better...What is wrong with malaysian rom-coms nowadays? I got more emotional watching Bolt (latest disney animated movie) Come on lah...Overall weak storyline,even worse script and laughable plot..
